Interning at LocAlley + Inside Look at Elevate (Sept 2023)

Networking is a valuable skill. During my time at LocAlley, the ability to market not just the company, but yourself was always emphasized. Michelle Fedorowich made sure that all her interns knew how to present themselves in an Elevator pitch. During my first week meeting the team, I practiced an Elevator Pitch that I would later use to market LocAlley and myself at Elevate Festival.
LocAlley tailors your internship to your interests and skills while always leaving doors open for learning. Coming into LocAlley, I had a background in content marketing and social media management. My day-to-day consisted of planning, creating, and scheduling content for our social media channels. However, I also had the opportunity to learn how to create and update website pages and strengthen my project management skills by preparing for the Elevate Festival.
Elevate Festival, a 3-day tech and innovation festival, was the highlight of my internship. I was lucky enough to attend the festival with Michelle, supporting her with content capture and networking for LocAlley. Not only did I get to listen to so many inspiring talks from people like Chris Hadfield, Ayesha Curry, and Lisa Laflamme, I also got to meet amazing like-minded people. If I could sum up the event in 3 words – it would be valuable, insightful, and fun! Attending Elevate as a LocAlley intern has enriched my career and my skills as a digital marketer, pushing me to do things I would have never done before and strengthening my skills as a result—like networking, pitching, and project management.
Overall, LocAlley is a great place to work for, especially if you see the value in working for a start-up that supports the community. The focus on practicing networking and pitching was instrumental in helping me build my career in CRM digital marketing. To prospective interns, I say don’t be afraid to try new things and be open to opportunities. Learn as much as you can, and rest assured that you’ll be supported and valued during and after your time at LocAlley.
