My ENT401 Design Thinking Experience as a LocAlley Intern (April 2026)
By: Aqsa Rehman
Taking risks is important. When I first started at LocAlley (September 2025) I didn’t know how far that knowledge would take me. As it turns out, all the way to Germany!
From the beginning of my LocAlley journey, Michelle Fedorowich taught me the importance of taking risks and stepping outside of my comfort zone. Another skill I learned was critical thinking skills especially in the marketing world. I learned the importance of pivoting from certain ideas and keeping an open mind during the brainstorming process. All of these skillsets have proven to be transferable into both my academic and personal life. My experience as an intern at LocAlley has also helped me refine my problem solving skills that benefitted the ideation phase of the course.
Recently, I had the opportunity to participate in the ENT 401 Design Thinking Experience course offered by Toronto Metropolitan University. The experience allowed me to travel to Munich, Germany and work with universities all over the world to compete in an entrepreneurial bootcamp. The course took place over five days and students were paired in groups to pitch a business idea relating to the theme of healthy living. With the limited time frame, my group and I quickly learned the importance of pivoting in the entrepreneurial world. I also transferred my marketing skills such as branding and creating pitch decks into creating a brand for my group’s idea.
When the inevitable roadblocks entered our path, I was able to apply my knowledge and quick thinking skills to ensure our group could move forward. After moving past the initial obstacles, my group successfully pitched our idea to experts in the field and received valuable feedback.
Working as an intern at LocAlley has taught me the importance of seeking out new opportunities and pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone. Don’t be afraid to take that risk because you never know what you may learn!
